Unfinished Histories records the history of British Alternative Theatre, 1968-88, through oral history interviews and the collecting of archive material. We make the work available to the public through our website, exhibitions, workshops, talks, play readings, DVDs and reunion events. Interviews are lodged and can be viewed at the British Library Sound Archives, V&A Theatre Collections and Sheffield University.
Since our beginning in 2006 we have completed over 70 interviews with practitioners from alternative theatre, and collected a vast amount of related archive material – photos, flyers, posters, scripts, programmes – that would have otherwise been lost. There is still much work to do to help rescue and document this exciting, vivid and influential part of our theatre history.
We are a registered charity and rely on the generosity of individuals, organisations, funding bodies and charitable foundations to make our work happen. All donations you can make to support us in this work, large or small, are invaluable and greatly appreciated.
