Unfinished Histories is far from reaching in its ambition. The scale of its undertaking enormous as the period and output it aims to capture is so immense. Since its beginnings in 2006 over 38 extensive oral history interviews have been completed and deposited with 3 major libraries - V&A Theatre Collections, British Library Sound Archive, Sheffield University - a range of exhibitions, workshops and presentations delivered, numerous personal and company archives placed and the website constructed.
There is plenty more work to be done. A large proportion of the history of alternative theatre remains undocumented and is in danger of being lost and forgotten. Our quest is to preserve the memory and experience of the work whilst those who pioneered it are still alive. We are committed to recording at least a further 70 interviews which we feel will give a substantial and representative basic overview of the time, the people and the work.
This however is only the tip of the alternative theatre iceberg as everyone who participated in the alternative theatre scene has something vital and vibrant to record. We would therefore like to be able to extend the number of interviews, locate and place more archive material, and develop educational and workshop programs.
Needless to say we are always on the lookout for more funds to help us achieve our goals and allow the work to continue and flourish. If you feel you would like to assist our work through some financial support please send a cheque made payable to Unfinished Histories Ltd to: Unfinished Histories, c/o 19A Ravensdale Road, London N16 6TJ or pay by PayPal
